Stern soda is used for the enrichment of the diet with sodium.

Sodium is considered to be in the ionized state within animal organism, the other part – in association with proteins and metabolic products. The content of sodium ions determines the magnitude of the osmotic pressure of blood. Sodium involved in maintaining the required pH of the medium – the major part of the composition of the buffer systems. So, standing out with the saliva, sodium and chlorine ions provide the normal level of acidity of ruminants.
